How lucky I was this week to be asked to be a guest on Vanessa Bartlett’s intelligent podcast, The Aquarean Podcast. We’d never met but talked for three hours about the enneagram and its intersection with tarot. She feels like a friend now and I look forward to working with her in the future. I cringed as I heard myself say the word “thing” two thousand times, but I seem to get better and better at not letting myself have a cringe hangover—what’s done is done. Nothing has to be perfect, which is good, because I can’t be. I prefer to write vs. speak because I can edit and proof, and with a recorded conversation it basically is what it is. But also communicating with my own voice feels natural.
In the episode I compare the way I move through life with the way in which Chris does. The fact that we have been married for thirty years and operate at such different frequencies is a testament to our mutual patience, or maybe it’s just stubbornness we have in common. We don’t give up. In my type eightness, I move quickly, with not a huge eye for detail, and have a bunch of different projects in the air at all times, both personal and professional. Chris manages fewer projects at once but when he is done each one is as close to perfect as it can be, even though if you know an enneagram type one, nothing can ever be absolutely perfect, which is their life’s frustration. I will also point out that as an eight with a seven wing, I bore easily and need to have that hopper full of different kinds of projects to switch it up every few hours.
The conversation also reminded me how we are all just trying to get through this thing called life (as Prince says) and we have all developed coping mechanisms to do just that. We are human. The archetypes of the enneagram represent our humanity, as do the cards of the tarot, which is the link that connects them. The whole idea is to increase consciousness and awareness of how our thoughts and spirit and behavior can negatively affect ourselves and others and work on it the best we can.
Vanessa is a psychic as well as a tarot reader and podcast host, and we had a really interesting back and forth about the differences between being an empath, an intuitive, and a psychic. Take a listen to hear that and loads of other interesting topics and monthly tarot readings by astrological sign in her premium Aquarean + content. I signed up.
Still Hilma
I think about Hilma almost every day. Today I am connecting Vanessa’s psychic work with the connection Hilma felt with her spirits. Hilma led a group called “the five” and though they were not a coven per se, they were a spiritual circle who performed seances, and they all as artists, connected the artistic with the spiritual, There is no doubt in my mind they understood the power of women bound together by art, spirit, and life. Psychic work as connection and as an art in itself will be in my thoughts this week.
I feel a bit scattered this week, but wanted to make sure I reached out with my words.
Thanks for reading and being with me on my word journey.
