Somehow I've managed all these years in the west never having visited Arizona. This week I spent time in Phoenix and Sedona with my excellent buddy and mentor Laurie Blackwell. We had an amazing visit and I know I'll return soon. We visited Sedona on Monday, and the gorgeous red rock formations which were once covered with the ocean thousands of years ago provide a testament to time and change.
Sedona is the home of seven vortexes. A vortex is a swirling center of energy which promotes healing, meditation and self-awareness. I’ll be honest. I didn’t feel any special energy when I sat on the bench in the odd outdoor relic shop which is the home of one of the seven, but maybe it is subtle, and my molecules rearranged in a small but useful way. I certainly felt wonderfully calm and centered during my whole visit, and continue to enjoy that peaceful, easy feeling (is that the Eagles?)
Offerings and What I’m Liking This Week
Vernal Equinox Gathering
This Sunday, March 12th will be our Vernal Equinox Gathering on zoom. We still have a few spots left. Sign up at laurieblackwell.com
Monthly Tarot Circle
Our monthly tarot circle for paid subscribers is growing! If it gets too big for real intimate conversations I’ll start offering two per month. Our April circle will be on April 16th at noon PST. I’m traveling to visit my dad in NYC the first Sunday, and the second is Easter, so for this month only we’ll meet the third Sunday of the month.
Hildegard
I’m studying Hildegard of Bingen this month and I’m loving Matthew Fox’s book Illuminations of Hildegard of Bingen. The color plates of her artwork are gorgeous, and learning about her is inspiring to me, as she had her hands in so many different areas: herbalism, art, music and more. A true renaissance woman, before the renaissance.
Women Talking
Last night I watched the Oscar nominated film, Women Talking. It is fascinating. I don’t want to give too much away, but I see it as a feminist manifesto, and though it takes place ostensibly in the past, there is so much which applies to women, men, and families today. The ensemble cast is so beautifully connected. Big recommend.
My Garden
Thoughts are beginning to sprout, plans are starting for this year’s garden. I’ll keep you posted.

A few random notes: 1) I’ve been dying to go to Arizona! Your pictures only make me want to go more. 2) I’m friends with Judith Ivey’s family, and she starred in Women Talking. Still need to see it! 3) Glad you’re loving my favorite saint. ❤️
As a feminist, I look forward to seeing Women Talking. Wonder if the men are interested in the conversation?
